A clear desk is a clear mind

A clear desk is a clear mind

Whether you're a teacher, administrator, TA, or a student; we all use a desk for hours on end, this is why its important to keep it clean and clutter free. After all, a clear desk is a clear mind.

I will go on to discuss the various benefits to productivity of having a clear desk space and the results it can bring in schools.

It may not seem like a genuine issue. However, having lots of clutter (stationary, mugs, paper, photos, and more...) on your desk is a magnet for dust, and dust brings germs. A recent study found that there is a clear correlation between level of 'desk clutter' and employees having days off due to illness. So, for a sure way to reduce the chance of getting a cold, just tidy your desk!

Another great benefit of having a clear and organised desk space s that it often results in an increase in productivity. This happens simply due to the lack of distractions which come from having piles of paper or a phone by your side.

A clear desk doesn't mean an empty desk. Don't worry!

You can still be productive with certain items on your desk, here's a few to consider: Green indoor plants - these promote relaxation and don't hinder productivity (they also look nice), A desk organiser - this is a simple solution to stacks of loose paper, A light of some sort - this ensure your desk is well lit which improves productivity.

Another benefit is that is 'drags you to digital', with only a computer or laptop handy, you're likely to do more work here which keeps your important documents secure, and password protected.

So, those are the few benefits which come from having a clear and organised desk space in school for all types of staff and students.
